When I bought Blue (‘97 2.8 prefacelift) she had an unknown aftermarket alarm fitted, and this has caused me a lot of issues as it causes the central locking to activate whenever it feels like it. Resulting in me being locked out of the car :(

@Nodzed @mid life crisis @Sully

As a result I have decided I need to reinstall an original OEM alarm that has the brick style fob 3G EWS system.

I am after the full system;
- Control receiving module (usually located behind the switches below the heater controls in the centre console)
- 2 x sensors (located at the top corners of the trim next to the windscreen
- Alarm siren (located in engine bay)
- All wiring (uncut and complete)
- 1 or 2 alarm fobs

I think that is all that’s needed, but let me know if there are other parts.

Don’t know if any of the resident breakers are able to help - @Synclare @spurs fan in a coupe @mrscalex

I think I recognise that fob and key;) (there are more pics in the article )
Can't help with parts but note the EWS unit was usually situated behind the glovebox. There should be drillings in frame to hold the unit in place. Would have thought the wiring loom and connectors would still be in situ.

Cheeky steal of the photo :whistle::thumbsup:=))

I’m planning to start taking the interior out for a winter refurb this weekend and can see what parts are left in there, but at the moment I’m planning on a worst case scenario.

I forgot to copyright it so I can't claim royalties =))

@Steve Tan and I successfully reprogrammed his fob yesterday. His car is a '98 2.8 and the EWS was a slightly different version to mine but in the same position. The drillings were slightly offset but we adapted.Unfortunately, we forgot to make a note of OEM number :(.
Good Luck

I have factory fitted thatcham alarm in mine, which has two microphones at the top of the front screen. Mine had never worked since I had the car, and I never got any fobs anyway. The only sound it had ever made is when I disconnect the battery on the car and the unit in the engine bay makes as very weak pathetic siren noise for about 30 secs then dies out=))

Agree with back-up siren comment - mine's the same but the cell is 21 years old and sounds it.:(:(
The rest of the system works fine - yours might just work with a programmed fob.
