A great many cars in the UK are 'company' cars of one sort or another and they are automatically changed every so many years. My daughter has just ordered her next one and it's electric because of the tax/ fuel running equation. BUT, what about secondhand cars? Many private owners buy used cars, but is a used electric car a good buy with a deteriorating expensive battery ? Still a lot of questions to answer, fortunately by 2030 I do not think it will concern me.

Not to mention the potential high ware and tare on the ICE unit on a hybrid, @Nodzed was saying that on his when the juice gets low the ICE automatically kicks in, cold engine straight in at 6000 rpm  That can't be right, surely 🤷‍♂️

Can't do them any good. I read somewhere that most hybrid owners use the ICE to charge batteries and don't charge them.

It will never happen how many charger are being installed for on street parking the car is the last bastion of freedom and self expression for the average person in the street unless they make electric cars affordable to every one it will never happen at the moment its the choice of the affluent or lease holder, company car user the average person will never be able to afford one and were do you charge it if you live in a block of flats or a terraced house

Trouble is the decisions are being made by politicians , don't see many of them in older cars. 'We're all in it together.' :D

Market forces and societal pressure will dictate how this plays out. Why would fossil fuel companies chasing ROI invest in a dying sector? Return on investment is measured in years (for major ROI, it can even be in decades) not months. People are finding their voices and are becoming more prepared to speak out about. How would you feel if you are driving your Z with the top down and have people shouting at you because they feel you are ruining the planet?
Society is becoming more and more polarised and I believe things will become very unpleasant in the coming years…
