New (naff) on the Left. Old (Brilliant bit of kit on the) right.
My tomtom go 720 (R/pic) kept going blank whilst on Holliday in unfamiliar area so went straight to Argos to get the cheapest replacement just under £100. Well a year later I decided I just couldn't stand this new version tomtom any more so went on the net to find a used 720 when I saw a write up of someone with the same problem who sent his to tom tom for repair, they just fitted a new batt cost him £105. While looking on same page came across ad for replacement batt complete with fitting tools at £29. (NewPower99,batt replacement kit) they also put on a vid of "how to" and although it looked a bit iffy with the removal of the mother board (and the old batt beng glued in with something like gorilla glue) I've just saved myself £70 quid and the thing actually works fine with a 2hr test. Didn't need to show you all how to do it cos it's all on the web.
It's a bit daunting when you get the m/board out hanging on a couple of wires and having to persuade the wife to part with her latest hairdryer to soften said glue plus even with my clumsy hands and sticking to the vid I've repaired it and can now relagate the new one to a much higher level of SPARE. ..................don't you just love "advancement" at the exspence of "good enough".
