Did anyone ever doubt that they weren't all at it?

Not really - how long before they are priced off the roads for the general population ?

We've still got 2 in our house, Jill's VW Polo 1.4TD and our James's Saab 1.9TD, both great cars but they're probably our last oil burners

You can't beat a diesel for lugging a caravan around. Mine pulls away with a 1500kg tin tent behind faster than a lot of solo cars and returns good mpg figures in to the bargain. Dim wit politicians and tree huggers won't be happy til we're all living in mud huts and doing our washing in the river again.
We are not solely responsible for global warming there must be many more factors than just the internal combustion engine.

We have 5 cars in the house and not an oil burner in sight. Sold the last one, a Saab 9-3 TTiD last year and replaced it with a Focus 1.0 ecoboost. It's a great car although not the most exciting but I certainly don't regret it at all.

I'm in no rush to get rid of my TD4 and would happily buy another.

Not surprised for a minute. I have an oil burner for work but one thing I do know is the market is changing so I wont be buying another diesel.

Agreed, sadly just an easy target for the sandle and tank top wearing tree hugging vegans

New car sales have suffered because of the governments new tax prices of £140 for cars that were zero or maybe £20.

So I guess people are looking to buy used.

The dealers I speak to say diesels are still selling, but there is a steady stream of people getting out of them and into petrols. The market certainly is changing. Some main dealers have been forced to take on new diesel stock by the manufacturer, at discounted prices of course.

I can't get my head round this diesel thing, the government encouraged us to buy them, now they're telling us they're bad and we're going to now tax them heavily and ban them from our cities?????

If a financial adviser gave this sort of advice to then be found out it was wrong we'd all be able to claim compensation for being miss sold, just like the banks have been.

So why is our government exempt?

One rule for them, different rules for others.

I couldn't agree more here! They should be held accountable.
