How To Guide - How to Scan Early Model Z3's (pre-build date 03/98)
Many people who own a pre 03/98 build date non M Z3's find it hard to scan any modules other than the engine computer (DME). This is because before 03/98, the Z3 has a mix of OBD1/ADS and OBD2 modules. 03/98 and later, the non M Z3's have all OBD2 modules. Seem that the USA S52 Z3M's had ADS...

Get an obd 2 reader something along the lines of a creator c110+ or c310+ good bit of kit for the money you will also need a 16 pin obd to 20 pin adapter as your zed won't have an obd port under the steering wheel only the 20 pin port under bonnet.
And even if you did the obd 2 port inside the car on zed 3 only gives limited access you need to use the 20 pin round one in the engine bay for full diag module access.

A good idea when attaching the plug into the round 20 pin connector in the engine bay is to give it a spray of electrical contact cleaner. It could easily be the first time something has been plugged into it.
