Hi all,
Been looking for a code reader for the last week or so, so many out there and not really sure which I need. Any ideas?
My Zed is a 1997 1.9 M44 with the round socket.
Thanks.

@pgunter has the C110 I think, we've certainly used on of them a few time in the 'shed. All depends what kind of fault you are looking for Tec.

Hi Gaz, over the last week or so the car has been smelling of fuel real bad whenever stationary. Had a look for leaks and such also worn or split pipes. Nothing yet.

I have the C130 which can reset the airbag and service lights. If your near Banbury your welcome to borrow and try.

I keep looking at that bcables system as well due to the extra stuff you can do with the system.
Thanks very much for the offer.

Tec, my C110 has done us proud in the shed. It has a hiccup once in a while with some of the earlier ecu's so just check its good for you year of Zed.

@ZTec your car is the same year as mine and neither Paul's C110 or Lee's phone app wouldn't connect with my car when we tried to clear my airbag light on the recent Euro trip.

When I got back I bought a cheap airbag/inspection/service tool on Ebay and in the listing it said that it was only good for pre facelift Zeds, so ask the questions before you buy. I only paid around £14.99 for mine but can't recall what it's called.

It resets the service lights and clears the airbag light, it does read some other codes but it's limited. As I've said above, I'm going to get the bmcables kit that will cover everything I'm ever going to need.

@ZTec They all say that they connect and read the codes but for some reason talking with Will a good friend who codes BMW's they all have little quirks... Hence what @Jack Ratt mentioned. Yet the C110 states it is good for all E36's which included Z3's.

Good luck and I hope you can get to the cause.

Thanks, well I think I've found the cause of the fuel smell, when I went to fill up with fuel yesterday I found that someone who shall remain nameless didn't put the fuel filler cap on when she filled up the other week, oops did I say she.:bashhead:

There are multiple sellers of the C110 and some offer more information than others. Some do say the model they sell is only suitable for facelift cars. There could well be a C110 for facelift and prefacelift cars but it may depend on what program is loaded on your car
