Hi all. I have the square faced (pre-facelift) OBC computer in my 1999 1.9 z3. I believe it was retro fitted by a previous owner as I have the original spec sheet from when the car was purchased from BMW and OBC was not selected (although interesting to note is was an option from factory on the 1.9). The fella I bought the car off doesnt know anything about the install of OBC and never got it working. I have connected it and it displays the time however the push button function of the BC indicator stalk does nothing to the OBC so I cannot access the other functions (MPG, outside temp, etc.). I have read something about coding the OBC but not quite sure whether this has been done and whether that is my issue. I am wondering if the BC indicator stalk has not been fully connected and thus is not interacting with the OBC unit? I understand that if the OBC hasnt been coded then the MPG and range calculations will be off but I would still like to access the trip computer and outside temp at least (I have checked and can see I have a temperature probe, located in the trim by my front left fog light). Attached a few pics below. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have this as a factory fitted option on my April 1997 M44 (car was originally a demonstrator and heavy with options). Fortunately works perfectly; stalk brings up outside temp, fuel miles remaining, average speed, time of course. Regret can't help with diagnostics; worth getting sorted though, good luck.
