Hi, Apologise to those that already know - Probably a few are already aware of this - I wasn't until yesterday - sold a car yesterday, was about to complete the V5C and post it off when my lad told me that you can now change ownership online, I know you can check MOT histories and tax them online, but wasn't aware of this.
Did it this morning - dead simple and it sends you and the new keeper an email of confirmation and arranges your tax refund if any. Also says the new V5C will be sent out within 5days. :)
Handy to know and saves you the cost of a stamp.

Here's the link www.gov.uk/sold-bought-vehicle

Ah that explains how my last V5 came so quickly.

Bought the car on a Monday, the new V5 dropped through my letterbox on the Wednesday.

I used the change of online ownership website when I sold a vehicle a few months ago.....brilliant. I have now bought a vehicle and this process in conjunction with the online tax service is proving a little troublesome, the previous owner of the car sorned the car the day before transfer, I have the new ownership slip from the v5 (v5c/2) but cannot tax the car until I now receive the new v5c! Doh!

You should be able to tax the car with the V5/2 at a post office.

Thanks, if I don't receive the new v5 by Saturday morning I'll try that.
