After reading on here about the difference a weighted gear knob can make I bought a Storm V1 titanium gear knob. It has certainly made a difference when using 1st and 2nd gear. It feels much more slicker and looks good to. It was a battle of wills to pull the old knob off but it gave in eventually I might now save my pennies for the matching handbrake cover. I would definitely recommend a heavier gear knob having bought one. Before joining this forum I never knew they even existed

A big fan of the Storm V1, have bought three now. Had them on all previous Z3's and Z4 and even currently have one on my daily TT :D

They seem very expensive (£90) if you see them as just a cosmetic enhancement, but if you treat them as a gearbox modification which enhances the enjoyment of driving then they are cheap. At least that's what I keep telling myself. Not sure I can use the same logic for the handbrake

How did you get the gear knob off?

As far as I can remember it just pulled off. But it was a struggle. I have read comments from some who have had to cut the old one off. Also have the roof down and make sure you don't hit yourself in the face when it comes off. Quite a common occurrence but it was a struggle.

It’s a great addition especially paired with the chrome surround that Southernboy makes.
