Hi, as we live here in South West France its law that you have to reg your car within 3 months. There are many folk that ignore this and insure there car in the U.K. Unfortunately if they have an accident & the insurance company prove that they are Domicile in France your not insured.Are you obliged to have French plates? Or is that something you wanted?

Quite right, we have lived here for 6 years now. Love it here. Still proud to be British.I believe if your intentions are to settle there you have to register your car on French plates.

A straight forward process as long as you have all the relevant documents ( and there are lots of them) the most important being the Certificate of Conformity and it certainly helps if it's in French
