Hi all, I’ve just purchased an imola red z3m roadster.
May have been a decision of the heart rather than the head.
I’ve owned an E89 Z4 for the last 6 years but was looking for somthing a little more analogue so to speak.
I’ve spent the last couple of weekends crawling over it and think I may have bitten off more than I can chew.
Looks like all the bushes are original along with shocks and springs. I’ve noticed an oil leak, not sure where from. And now I’ve found a popped spot weld in the boot !!!! Good stuff is body and interior are immaculate and the Vanos was done a couple of years ago by MrVanos. Any thoughts on the popped spot weld ? I’ve read all the stories should I be immediately concerned or keep an eye on it and get it sorted in due course.
Thanks for any and all advice.

I would strongly advise getting all the bushes and suspension replaced, not cheap but it will transform the car and the handling will match the performance. Speak to @Lee at Zedshed HQ

Welcome to the Forum.

The oil leak could be from the PRV on the bottom of the engine block, common problem. I'm waiting to get mine replaced as I have a small leak in that area.

Hi Neil, welcome from me too near Lincoln. I wouldn't stress about a couple of spots welds, there are plenty more. Agreed it is something that needs to be addressed in the future, but unless you plan on "tracking" the car it's not an immediate issue.

Tony.

Hi Tony, thanks for the advice. I’ll keep an eye on them and take a view.
