Hi,

i wanted to share some pictures of the new exhaust I have fitted and ask for help with issue I came across.

i started to having brake warning light coming intermittently and after putting car on the ramp I could see a brake fluid leak from one of the brake pipes( one that goes from above trailing arm and then all the way under chassis next to side skirts. Can someone recommend where to buy them (copper ones) so I can get that replaced.

BMW would sell them but not to shape so would need bending when fitting. Best to buy a roll of knufer or copper brake line and new fittings together with a flaring tool to make the ends yourself if comfortable doing the job.
Real oem parts site here for brake pipes

Thanks for the info!

If you’re not confident flaring the pipes yourself, some local car spares type shops will often do them for you.

My local ones did a couple for me - I just measured the old ones and they made the new ones up to the same length then I shaped them by taping them to the old ones with masking tape and bending them to match.

It’ll be a hell of a lot cheaper than ordering pre shaped too!

That’s a good shout. I will need to consider my options but it definitely needs doing asap

Is it still leaking out all the time ?
If so you need to stop this as it will empty the madter cylinder and abs pump and then you will have a full bleed on your hands.
To stop it leaking you need to depress the brake pedal slightly like with piece of wood between seat and pedal this will stop fluid leaking .

If its only leaking when you press pedal then be ok if just left obviously dont drive it but be ok till you replace.

I would go back underneath get a good look at the 2 front to rear pipes after the bend up from the floor at nearside rear subframe its where they run up the side of the chassis just above the nearside corner of the subframe that z3 rot the pipes and the ones along the rear trailing arms and ends where join flexi hoses these are all the bits to get a good look at as quite often if one pipe away they may be more.

Stephen.

Thank you Stephen for your in depth description. It’s on the ramp as we speak and having both done at the same time.

Regards
Kai
