Way to go, Richard. Does this mean you are keeping the Z4?.
For the time being Mike, yes. If it gets too financially restrictive when I retire, i will most probably have to sell it :-(

Exactly my thoughts with the M car Macca. General running costs on cars like ours are expensive enough.

I budgeted for 2 years summer motoring & some unexpected bills, however I will review it when my wife retires 2017 :)

If it all gets too much, Richard, you could always buy a little runabout Red 1.9 Z3 to tinker with and call it the 'The Red Dart'!! :D

After you have had the wind in your hair experience with the EAC, nothing else replaces it. Besides which, we already have a support vehicle!!!!;)

Kate & Mark have a Nissan Qashqai, love it and find it really economical, but they have a diesel!

It's a crap shoot when one or both retire on how budgets get set. Especially hard if you have a car habit that must be fed. When we both worked full time we could afford almost anything now that we're both on pensions and with my projects it's taking some serious consideration before buying something major. We too bought a new car plus I imported the Zed last year plus we're raising our 10 yr old granddaughter. So good luck in retirement and hopefully you won't need to sell the ZEDS. JIM

... when I retire...
When is the great day Richard? This year? Next year? I'm sure you'll be ok running this and your Zed, you'll just have to cut down on other things, like food, heating, drink, you know the sort of thing;). You'll miss having a Zed if you do have to sell:(.

Too true Richard, you'll be thinner, hungry, thirsty but hey you will still have the Z smile. Hope things will stretch to keeping both cars.

Tony.

Perhaps, when the time comes, Macca and I could do a proper fair swap - I could give Macca the Awesome 1.9i and he could give me the 'Red Arrow' .... plus a very handsome wad of cash ;) :ymdevil:

We bought a new car today in readiness for our retirement.
Great colour for retirement as you will have plenty of time to keep it clean.
I want a car like that for soaking up the pot holes.
Black is my favourite colour for cars but, theres always a but..........
I ordered a VW Golf in Black, looked great straight after a wash and polish, however I found I was coming home from work and giving the car a quick wash almost every day, as it shows the dirt so well, I have so much more time now I've sold it:(

I know exactly what you mean Ken, we have a black Touareg and a black Eos too. Both look great as you say after a wash and brush up but it doesn't last long, even in the summer with dust and bugs.

Tony.

ps my Oxford Green Z doesn't show it quite so much,....... or perhaps I spoil it more?:)

What's so little about a 1.9, apart from being slimmer around the hips, the 2.0 only has 100cc on it, weighs heavier, and has VANOS with all its issues..........thinking about it, yes get a 1.9 to tinker with......
