Listen to this about my cheeky boss :p
For the passed 3 years I've worked every Christmas Eve night and New Years night ;)
For some reason the other staff have come up with a reason as not to do it :(
We are only meant to do one ......... :)
But good old me the other staff have dropped out so I've stepped in their place :)
So this year I told them I'm only going to do one ........ ;)
So I'm doing Christmas Eve :)
I went into work last night and have a guess what :)
The diary page was open on News years eve ;)
And yes my name was in for that night with a question mark , I asked him about it and he said it's their just in case , I said in case of what , he said if you want to work as the other girls can't do it ........:)
I said I'm sorry I've done both for the last 3 years so the answer is no ........ :)
Then he said but we're got no other staff :)
I feel on a guilt trip now ;)
But I'm not doing both again as its not fair on my family ;)
The other girls are baby sitting or going out ;)

Shelly,

Your too kind, if you have worked the last 3 years both evenings you should have both off this year.

Your colleagues are not as considerate as you!

Stick to your plans Shelly, you've done your bit these past three years, your turn to take it easy. Families do come first.

Looks like your workplace operates on a first come first served basis? See if someone will swap, if there's no one else to support then negotiate - start with quadruple time plus one extra day holiday! Sorted!

Bolshie person alert:eek: Boss's wishes should be your main priority and should come top of your priority list, fancy letting him down like that, gird thy loins and accept his very reasonable request.

Shelly, stand your ground, you've done your share of holiday working. They are taking advantage of your good nature.

@Shelly your answer to him should be, "actually, as I've worked both for the last 3 years, i'd like both off this year please!"

Well said Pete. He can ask but as you have done your bit previously you should be exempt. If he makes a rota up you should not be part of that either, unless any incentives offered far far outweigh any inconveniences.

This should also have been sorted months ago not now right at the stressful time.

No one but your boss and fellow workers should feel guilty @Shelly! I agree, you should be exempt this year for your past accommodation. Stand your ground this guy is taking advantage of you! JIM

Thank you all for your replys :p
Yes I am going to stand my ground this year :)
And have New Years Eve off work ;)
And yes it's still single pay on both nights :(
This is what happened previous years and I've always given in but not this year :)

Sounds like you are too nice, as @MaryMac said, stand your ground and say NO. Is the boss in charge or is it the workers, he should put a rota in place for all the workers who skive each year:whistle:
