Moving on to M235i

So after 4 1/2 years of mostly trouble free motoring my 2004 Z4 2.2 has moved on. And after trying to convince the other half that a 10+ year old Z4M coupe requiring new suspension, bushings and a few mods was a wise investment, I have a 2015 M235i instead.

Therefore a couple of gratutious photos are necessary of old and new.

FYI a set of 16" winter tyres on BMW style 42 are for sale, 7-8 mm of tread left, 205/55 R16 Hankook Icept evo. Will be going up in the for sale section.

We are thinking of changing to the 235 but convertible in around 2 years time. Lovely looking cars and power to boot

Traded my Z3 2.2 & a 118d for a newer 420d sports convertable, Stihl saw not required.

Oh and a nice new motor Charles, bet you will enjoy the extra power but miss the convertible when weather permits.

Definitly miss the soft top experience and a crisp dry winter drive, but there is just something I just can't agree with on a 4 seat convertable. Similar to wanting a manual gearbox in sporty car.

The extra power is definitely fun, and roughly similar mpg as the Z4. P3 gauge and cruise control mods already fitted, next on the list is a quaife differential from birds I think.

I would say the m235i however its not as much fun to drive because its almost too good. The Z4 felt much more raw and encouraged you to be a hooligan 100% of the time and the feedback through the steering, you could feel every white line and dip in the road, was great. Sadly all lost in modern cars, but you gain comfort and grownupness, with the capability of still being a hooligan (and two extra seats).

This is exactly how I feel comparing my TT to my Z3

But the big difference is, one day I'll sell the TT and it'll be gone, but I'll always have a Z in the garage.
