Hi all,

As you are well aware Motor Neurones Disease is a subject close to the hearts of a few forum members, not least Canman who was diagnosed with it. There has been talk recently by the members of how we can raise money for this fantastic charity.

I never envisaged ZRoadster.org as having much of a future, but more as a temporary home. From the level of positive feedback and encouragement already received James and I have decided to see what can be made of it!

As previously mentioned this site will not require contributions towards costs. The software it's hosted on is free to use. Other than our time, we have NO associated costs.

I have already received gracious offers of funding to help this site, which I have declined. Thank you, you know who you are!

What we propose is that we use this site to raise funds in whatever way possible, making the MNDA our charity for what's left of 2011 and the whole of 2012! To that end I have been discussing what we can provide as a community with Canman to assist the MNDA.

Should the site continue past this point, we can vote for another charity in 2013, or continue with the MNDA.

To make the whole donation process transparent, I will create a JustGiving page in the name of this site. I don't want any money sitting around in bank accounts when it can be put to use.

I will publish further details soon, and perhaps create a specific Charity sub-forum so people can discuss how to generate money, and see how to donate if they want to!

As ever, your comments are most welcome and encouraged.

Gary & James

Re: Motor Neurones Disease Association & ZRoadster.org

i think this is a great idea , MND the disease needs defeating and its only by charity funding that most of the research is done. The true cause has yet to be established and a cure could be years away. The MNDA not only funds research but help with the needs of sufferers, ie equipment and services. Ive got a wash and dry toilet , hands free :-bd funded my the MNDA, which helps me retain my dignity for longer. Dont laugh these are the future 8-} ....
So staying on .org is of great benefit to me and every other MND sufferer , and i believe it has more functions and potential than .net. Lets give this a go as there is so much enthusiasm on here by Gary and James. The same cannot be said for .net.

thanks , truly ^:)^ :ymapplause:

Brilliant idea :)

How about a small percentage of any sale made through this forum? (Entirely voluntary of course). After all, you pay a selling fee on many internet sites.

I'm trying to find the info but "Virgin Giving" are 'not for profit' so it's only 2% charge to cover costs, as opposed to 5% for JustGiving.

We will be able to run a totaliser through the site, and set ourselves a target to aim for!

We should contact the MNDA also so they can appreciate why, where etc the money is coming from. Im registered with them and on their own forum. A fishing forum does it in support of another sufferer i know.

Not yet. I'm going to go with Virgin Giving as they have a lower commission rate of 2% rather than 5% at JG.

Will most likely do it first thing tomorrow, and I'll email you the details as soon as it's done.
