Took the focus for it's mot this afternoon. It's a 62 plate done 16000 miles and it failed in this. I was rather shocked to say the least.

Pot hole maybe? No it's not mate. Bloody car only goes up and down the A38 to work!
Crap roads shouldn't do that to a virtually new and unused spring though. Either general level of quality is low, there's a manufacturing defect or @Grumps has been rallying againWe have our crappie roads to blame for that I guess .
Cars 5 years old Ian, sure they will blame a pothole to get out of it.I think I'd be asking Ford for some contribution to fixing that.
Not that I'm aware of mate.Pot hole maybe?
I'd go with poor quality on those two Ian!Crap roads shouldn't do that to a virtually new and unused spring though. Either general level of quality is low, there's a manufacturing defect or @Grumps has been rallying again
Jack's fiesta has had to two now. It's only done 40k.At least it's not as bad as Fiestas as the spring is smaller diameter at the bottom than the rest and when they snap they usually gouge chunks out of the tyre.
Shame about that Grumps but could have been cracked before you got it and eventually gave up the ghost.
Seems to be a pattern forming here. I recall @t-tony saying ford springs can be weak.We had to have 2x Springs replaced on our Kuga when it went in for its MOT last month only done 55k and only goes to Mansfield and back
I know they will - but I'd still ask them "Age alone shouldn't cause that - so, is your quality so poor that you expect a car with so few miles to suffer damage like that. "Cars 5 years old Ian, sure they will blame a pothole to get out of it.
I see a pattern forming hereonly goes to Mansfield and back
I like Ford's and generally find them good cars but the spring quality does seem sub standardI know they will - but I'd still ask them "Age alone shouldn't cause that - so, is your quality so poor that you expect a car with so few miles to suffer damage like that. "
The reality is that most cars are not designed for our generally roads. But, don;t think they'd fess up to that.
If you don't ask you don't get.
Think I'll be crawling under the boys KA this weekend before it goes in for its MOT Tuesday.
Depending on their reply - Can't see me buying another Ford any time soon.
