Hi all,
Went on a guided tour of the Morgan factory today.Great, any motoring enthusiast will enjoy the visit. No robots to be found , just craftsmen and women working aluminium, steel, wood and leather into bespoke vehicles.
Definitely well worth a visit.
Ken.

I went there about 25 years ago, on business, not as a visitor. It was a fascinating place. In the garage area where they did development work there was this really scruffy guy covered in dust and grime working on a car. He came over and introduced himself as Charles Morgan.

There is a local business just outside Truro, on the Falmouth road where you can hire a Morgan Roadster to enjoy the Cornish traffic jams, well if you can call 2 tractors, a horse and a milk lorry a traffic jam =))

Morgan's are a common sight around here

It was really interesting watching all the different parts being made by hand. For example, the bonnets being shaped and the louvres being cut and shaped by 'eye',by people who had been through apprenticeships at the company. Also the sheer variety of options to the cars being built.Every one was different in many little details, not just the colour of paint or trim. Some parts are made to order elsewhere, but most of the work is in house. The engines are BMW (bigger ones) and the two four pots are Ford, but tuned by Cosworth.
As I say, well worth a visit if you like cars, which I'm sure most of us on here do!

I've always fancied visiting the Morgan factory and was only looking at Google earth to see where it was and thought a cruise to there might be of interest.
Ken are you allowed to take photos in the factory?
How much is a tour?
Please

Yes,you're allowed to take photos anywhere there on the tour,as many as you like.I didn't think that would be the case so I didn't take my camera - pants!
We paid £20 each for the guided tour which I thought was excellent.Very relaxed and informative,no rushing you through or anything.

Now that sounds right up my street.
I wonder how many members would be up for this
