You might be interested in some of the tests the cars have to go through. I guess the head on ones are 40 mph and side impact are 30 mph.

There is also quite a difference between the latest cars and the earlier ones.
Also amazing the number of screens that stay intact after the crash.

The head on into the blocks are outside the area of the chassis that has all the deformation capability. It's simply ripping off the wing and suspension components with much of the force being taken by the passenger cell. That makes the results even more impressive.

Good to see that most of those crash test dummies made it home to their families that same night - -might be a bit sore though for the next week or two. :)
