Today went smoothly we managed to make a good start removing everything I can honestly say I’ve never worked on a car that smells like a farm and even I now smell like a farm she’s very crispy and muddy underneath.
First things to remove are the wheels this then allows us a view on what we’re up against. I think Miller might want to get these wheels refurbed soon we can take care of this if needed.
then a glimpse of things to come.
rear shocks are totally gone. I could wiggle them side to side by hand, the discs look bad but there’s no lip at all so it’s just light surface rust. Next up we removed the exhausts these didn’t cause any issues but it did show some more crispy bits
With the exhaust out the way it was full steam ahead. The rest didn’t take long to come off and nothing really gave us a fight.
on the drive home it felt like driving blancmange and I can now see why even the top mounts had collapsed.
lovely split Guibo bush.
Miller also said the temp sensor in the car stopped working a while ago, these are located in the rear drivers side arch and you can see why
also a shot of the dead beam bushes.
Only 3 hours into the build the whole lot was on the ground.
some slightly aged bushes.
add another 10 mins and she’s split into 4. Some serious thick chunks metal coming off too.
Tomorrow will be all these bits torn down further ready for powder coat. Removing the front end back as far as the subframe. If we get time we’ll also drop out the gearbox. Then everything will be ready for powdercoat Monday.
