Hi all,

As I mentioned previously we are trialing a new way of running the competition. Please bear with me as this is new to me as well, but should be relatively painless.:nurse:

First a big thank you for the 9 fantastic entries this month!

The old procedure for "voting" using a poll, has been replaced with a rating system using the Media Gallery. This allows you to rate each picture individually, or just the images you want to rate. You also have the wild card of giving a 'Like'. The amount of 'likes' will act as the deciding factor in a tie break.

This system makes the whole process completely transparent! It is also impossible for you to vote for yourself now, which of course never happened under the old system... :shifty:

You don't have to rate every picture if you don't want, just those you feel are worthy ;)

Procedure for rating & liking
  • Select the Media link from the menu and then choose May 2013 from the categories. This will then display the 9 entries for this month. You can browse them by clicking on them.
  • rating01.png
  • Look for the stars in the upper right corner, and choose how many stars you want to award.
  • rating02.png
  • You are then offered the option to leave a comment for the submitter if you wish (completely optional).
  • Click "Submit Rating"
  • Repeat for any other images you want to rate.
Don't forget you can 'Like' the image as well (use these sparingly as they will help in a tie break!).
  • Just below the image on the right hand side, you will see the 'Like' button.

Cheers, Gary

Hi Richard,

How large are the images you are uploading. I've been ok with images up to 7MB (4288x2848px) in size (which was the largest I had access to). Someone mentioned they couldn't upload a 11MB image - which would be too big even with them being compressed and resized on upload!

Cheers, Gary

I got your emails Terry just not had chance to try them yet, but will try and look at them at the weekend. I'm sure there is something more simple going on that what it seems.

1.14 meg, then i resized it, but whats weird is that some time you get two methods of media selection, one works the other freezes at 22% and then gives you an error message??

Mark,

I use the iPad mainly and been ok today. I use Chrome rather than safari though. Most likely going to be a cookie issue, so can you try clearing them and see if that helps?

Cheers, Gary

Voting will close at 9pm tomorrow evening, assuming I've made it back from London by then.

Will post up the winner as soon after that time as possible.
