M54b30 on stand review

Hey guys, hope you are well. New to the site but excited to be here!

I’ve ordered a 2002 Z3 2.2i auto from Japan with low miles. I’ve also bought a 3.0i engine for the swap (70k miles).

I’ve got the m54b30 on a stand and am enjoying renewing components but just wanted to check members thoughts on the external look of the crusty pulley wheels and crispy head gasket.

I’ve done the oil pump nut (oil was a touch milky perhaps due to sitting?) and am also doing cooling and vanos etc.

Anything else I should ensure to do? Anything bad stand out from photos?

Holy Crap!!.. what happened to that engine? has it been at the bottom of the ocean for the last 5 years.. Holy Molley!!
Is that the salt residue from your snow season result? man, remind me to steer clear of picking up engines from your part of the world. The oxidation is massive.

aside from its looks, iam sure its nice and operational. subbed to see you do the swap. Enjoy.
