I've sold my Z3 and one of the many projected I'd intended to do to it was the M50 manifold conversion. This never happened. The chap I bought the manifold told me the injectors were from an M3. I have the adaptor plate from Bimmer tune. You just need the pipe work. The is an excellent thread on the forum on how to fit it. Happy to post it I'm looking for £140 or

To be honest Sean. I don't know. I'd imagine you are already looking but there is a tutorial on this site which might answer the question.

If it is the M50 part it is the one for our cars, it should be for the M50B25 I believe, it should have part number on the manifold which confirms it.

If Sean is not interested I’d like to buy it please.

Thanks for the part numbers. It is an M50 but it is from a 2.0.
For my 2.8 the one off a 2.5 (which looks almost identical but has the 2.5 at the end of the part number).

Right, is that a fact? So glad I didn't go through the hassle of trying to fit it!!

I thought you needed the 3.0l one for the 2.8

As much as I can tell from some internet searching, this is good link that seems factual;
https://www.e30zone.net/e30wiki/index.php/M5x_Inlet

The thing is 2.0 ports on yours look more ‘rounded’ (bigger) than than the restricted 2.8 ones so might be an improvement but I guess the best way to tell us have them side by side.

The injectors are interesting too - the internet says:
According to pelican, 3.2 M3 and 328 use the same size injector (the purple one). 3.0 M3 and 325, 323 all use the same injector (the green one)
https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/...at-size-(color)-are-the-stock-328is-injectors

So I should already have these but not near the car to check.

I have the exact manifold and bored out throttle body, enlarged butterfly and ECU on my single vanos 2.8 remapped to 240bhp.
I am not selling it or disagreeing with anyone but what I can say is it’s 2.5 and there is a lot more to it than bolt and go.
This includes chopping your fuel rail.

The twin vanos engine needs the 3.0 manifold from a e46 330i or 3.0 X5 and you need an adapter plate for the throttle body and a 3.0 disa valve there are also a couple of small pipes to blank off but everything else is pretty much straight forward swap. The single Vanos uses the 2.5 manifold and is not so straight forward.

@Jason Obee I didn’t mean to open a can of worms about this manifold so been doing some more digging.

This article https://www.e30zone.net/e30wiki/index.php/M5x_Inlet says that the runners are slightly narrower on the 2.0 than the 2.5 and that the inlet port is also narrower.

Your one however does not look so restricted (I can’t seem to get a side by side comparison shot of the 2.0 vs 2.5 to compare however).
And @Juvvajuvva has the same part and is working for him.

I’m wondering if there are variations of the 2.0 part (as the engine was used on 3 series as well as 5 series and Z3)

I’ve got some pics of a 2.5 part that I have:

A36CF3B5-55A0-4FCA-B7E3-CA692F792DCC.jpeg

The article says the 2.0 inlet port is 70-75mm and the 2.5 is 80mm.
I’ve measured this one the only thing measuring 80mm is the outside diameter so not sure which parameters were used (I would have assume the inner diameter was measured rather than outer but it doesn’t seem that way)

This is the part no with the 2.5 suffix.

Can you take the same measurements and then it will be hopefully be clear if there is any difference at all between the 2.0 you have and this 2.5?

That’s impressive from a 2.8!
Do you have S50 exhaust manifolds / cams to get up to 240?
Did you enlarge the ASC as well?
Do you have a build thread somewhere, would love to learn more
