I'm looking at getting a 3 Series GT. A couple of years ago I had a chat last time I was in Thrifty car hire and they mentioned they had 3GTs on the fleet, in fact there was one in the yard and they gave me the keys to go have a sit in it. They said if I specifically asked for it by name at the office I could rent that rather than get a random 3 series via the internet. Plus it was the same cost as a regular 3 Series. About £150 for a week. Great!

I went back today but they no longer have 3 GTs on the fleet.

Does anyone know a car hire company where I could specifically get a 3GT rather than a 3 Series saloon. Or for that matter any car hire company that has 3 GTs on the fleet?

Accommodation-wise a 3GT is a very different beast to a regular 3 Series so just no point me hiring one of those.

Thanks.

Try and blag a longer test drive from you local dealers. We had a 3 touring for a couple of hours but I'm sure you could get one for longer.

We looked at the GT and it is bigger inside. Only thing that put us off was the height of the bumper for the dog to get in and out. ( shortish legs)
The 4 series Gran Coupe is similar but not quite as chunky and more room in the back than 4 series as it is a hatchback and the rear window is not as close to you head as in the 2 door 4 series coupe.

I did look at the 4 Gran Coupe but the rear leg room is below average and in the 3 GT it's well above average.

My other half's dogs laugh at the mere suggestion of being asked to jump up into the back of the car. They are chocolate labradors and expect to be picked up!! Like a bl**dy fool I oblige my other half by doing so. So rear bumper height not relevant ;)

The 330 and 335 are insanely quick for a diesel btw. 5.5 secs and 4.9 0-60 respectively. Who needs an M3?!

Not sure they are for me. Might whimp out and just get a 320.
