Look what I've got today , when starting the engine, after a long winter sleep!
I have two double rows missing...
Does anybody else had this problem?
Is it repairable, or should I ask Andy to reserve a replacement of my unit?
I would like very much to keep the radio cassete, as original.

I noticed mine done that a couple of times over the winter when it had been freezing over night. Once the unit had been on foe 20 mins and warmed up it went back to normal. Now the weather warmed up (just... lol ) its been fine. I just took it that a 20 year old unit don't like the cold.

This is a good news!
And more: after starting a second time the engine I have only two rows missing , instead of four.
Definitely the Zed ask for a ride in open sun...but unfortunately, it's raining!
Thanks all and wish you a sunny week end!
Dan

is it an LDC display? did you have a pic to show the problem?
I can talk to some our field engineers and our lab technicians who work on equipment that frequently gets used in sub zero conditions. They're likely to know the cause and if it might return and what you might be able to do to stop it.

I suspect it's probably a dodgy connector for the display matrix. Not been used means no heat. A bit of moisture on dissimilar metals and you get corrosion. Don't know if you can get at it but a bit of contact cleaner might just fix it. I suspect it will be a plastic ribbon cable. Just reseating it with either cure it or break it some more. I'll talk to our technicians and see what they do with this kind of problem.

Defo not a dodgy connector... definitely condensation and cold... theres loads of threads about it on here and .net
If it were random pixels I would agree but, with whole Columns in the matrix it means none of the pixels are being addressed in those columns as they are scanned. That probably means the address lines for those columns are not working. It's possible cold has burst the cells but unlikely all in one column will have gone. I'd like to see the data lines on an oscilloscope to check if they're being driven.
