Also Michelin would only rate the tyre to 186 which is alarming

Must tell the C-in-C, she'd be back from the school run before she left! Hit a match stick at that speed and it would be all over .......... Nevada, to be precise :nailbiting:

They are pushing the boundaries of engineering. Without these we would not have what we have in our cars today as it filters back down. Agree the car is not great to look at, but the engineering is a work of art in itself.

Some of the technology I have seen of late amazes me.. The Heads up Night display with thermal imaging so you can see wildlife at the side of the road... etc... The adaptive cruise control that slows you down when you are not watching whats in front of you.

All these are good but I do think people will become reliant on them and then become very lazy, like satnavs and reading a map.

Agree - taking some of the driver involvement out of driving risks problems - grabbing attention when needed isn't going to work. Flooding the driver with information too can be dangerous. Massive amounts of research is done on aircraft cockpits but i don't see that applied to cars. Some of it is a solution looking for a problem.
Fascinating to see how fast a road legal car can go through but other than technology transfer its of little real world use.

The advancement in materials for heat transfer during braking is amazing.

I though for one am hating these overhead signs with so much info on them that you get distracted trying to read it all. Some have three lines of info relating to different routes. When you are dong 70 and watching the road, how can you take it all in without taking your eyes away for a few seconds from the car in front. Its a bit like the amount of road sign clutter, it as you say begins to become an overload and distraction. Its like.. did you see the warning sign.. hmm which one...

I once counted over 120 road signs in the last 1 1/2 miles of my journey into work.

Saw 6 accidents that day too

Then add it to this which can change into what you want it too.. It starts to get too much for you to take in. But some of it will filter down and become useful. Now an interesting question for you... if you report on those systems that the road has an accident and all the sat nav with traffic divert drivers... would it make the journey home from work any quicker.. hahaha...

If it were that simple. They all use traffic flow data from roadside sensors and gps data from phone apps etc to validate their data. You would have to spoof all those too.

But, I see an opening for app that feeds back your journey and that is used to keep all the lights on green where you're going. That's reverse of the one that must be on my phone that turns every light to red in Leicester just as I approach it
