Hi
just joined the forum today in the hope that there is someone on here that can help me out with a solution to the problems that I am having with my Z4.
I changed the battery and whilst all the electrics are working the car wont start. There is occasionally a click or two from the starter motor but thats all. 3 red lights appear in the center cluster, battery, oil. and on the right hand dial a yellow icon with the letters EML.
Any one got any ideas?

Have you tried jump leads yet Bill just to rule out low battery?

Tony.

Should start in transport mode with limited electrical operations. Should always start.

Tony.

Try easy stuff first, try rolling it in gear first to see of there is a dead field in the starter.

Hi and welcome. I've had the same once or twice.

Jason beat me to it. Just occasionally the starter stops in a position that it won't engage. Put the car in to gear and release the brake. Only need to move it a fraction of an inch. Then try and restart in the normal way.

Next make sure the battery is connected properly and clamps properly tight on the posts. Then read and check any error codes. Could be a sensor somewhere that has gone awol.
