IMO, you cross the line as soon as you put a prancing horse on it, or write Ferrari on something. GTO have bent the line by basing it on a VIN plate, but can they prove that it doesn't need a Q plate. I think they have bypassed that part of the law.

BTW, so do the Italian authorities - so don't take it to Italy unless you have a good lawyer and lots of money.

Hmmm- £750k for the car. I wonder how much they'd want for a V12 Columbo engine copy?
A shame but for me, that's where it stops- just wondering.

Not at all sure about festooning the car (and engine) with Ferrari badges. Maybe there'd be a market for "il unicorne rampante" emblems, might be enough difference to keep the sharp-suited violin-case-carrying gentlemen away.;)

I have decided that my next project (once the current Fauxrarri is done) will be to buy a 1960's original Ferrari or AC Cobra and convert it into a BMW Z3. Should not be too difficult sourcing all the parts (I have the full set of body panels and interior here anyway).

Once done it should be worth £3-4000 at least, but that value may be lower as it is only a Replica and most of the engine and so on are not original BMW!!!

Here is a perfect Z3 replica built from a Ferrari 250 California, can you tell the difference!!!! At least it has a period number plate!
