A Nut splitter... The #zedshed has a great version of that... its called a @GazHyde ... with a hammer or angle grinder..

Thanks @Andy McDonnell , I've never seen this before, I assume you wind in the spear with a socket or spanner and then use a big ring spanner to apply the pressure to the handle to turn off? Or is the idea to cut the nut in half?

You just split the nut and it falls off.
