Good headline?
The context is that the TFS insurance is due at the end of the month. Premium before tax and broker fee was £83.50 last year. This year £530. The insurance company Markerstudy has stopped offering vehicle insurance and the replacement offered (Highway) doesn't like me parking on the road. Obviously the risk is unchanged but the industry's attitude has changed. I'll find a space off the road somehow and pay £150.

That's if I can't find another company- Equity Red Star has been mentioned.

Hagerty provided a park-off-the-road policy for £350 which included all sorts of benefits- UK & European recovery, home start and an interesting total loss package- if the car is written off, you get the full agreed payout but get to retain the "wreck" for free !!!

I noticed that Highway are the underwriters for pretty much every 'specialist' broker these days; Adrian Flux, A Plan, Chris Knott, etc.

Anybody would think it is a cartel, eh? (which insurance is nowadays).

I am beginning to dislike insurance as much as estate agents and car dealers (and I have always disliked the latter two immensely, as they are utter parasites).

Complete lottery now , just had two renewals , my caddy has increased by £60 but can’t get anything cheaper on any of the comparison sites .
The Z4 has doubled to £300 yet a quick search and a new policy for £140! How does that work?

I compared my insurance renewal with a new customer approach with the same insurance company last year; it was significantly less. Called them and they matched it!

Highway is the broker policy from LV by the way. Was with Highway for years through a broker, went direct to LV and shaved over £200 off - renewal has come through last week and although its increased by around 40% still less than I paid 3 years ago

There arent that many actual insurance companys in the UK. most just use diffeent names for where they are bought from.

I found LV to be cheapest for the last few years for me and the wife. They don't seem to want us anymore, as now Admiral or Hastings (and occasionally SAGA as I'm getting old) always seem to come in the cheapest. LV are way down the list now.

I am convinced they all have a Monday morning conference call each week and divvy up the new business between themselves.

I'm on the Admiral multi-car policy which was good value last year remains to be seen this year.

Just did a quote for Admiral multi car , barely any different from the two separate policies and you start to lose the Will after filling in the same online questions, no wonder people get lazy and just renew with their existing insurer!

In conversation with Adrian Flux I've been told that Markerstudy are back in the vehicle insurance market. Their previous underwriter West Bay went under but they are now underwritten by Tradex so are offering policies again.
They've quoted with Ageas Insurance and I've placed the business with them.

Personally, I'd steer well clear of Markerstudy.
i had a motorcycle policy with them and unfortunately had to make a claim when I got T-boned by a young lad in a Citroen Saxo.
They were absolutely useless from start to finish, and I had to constantly chase them to get any progress with the claim and I t took me over 9 months to get my excess refunded.
Then again, I can’t say I’ve ever had any positive experiences with insurance companies; they’re all parasites

Apparently Markerstudy are not quoting for any premiums <£200.

Always check my renewals for all of our cars using Comparison sites then depending on results contact them to see what they can offer if I go for a better deal with what I find on the comparison site. The Zeds are with SAGA who have been the lowest for some three years or more with small inflation rises which is only to be expected these days. Do the same with our daily drivers when their renewals come up.

According to Martin Lewis last night, there are only 4, yes 4, underwriters in the UK.
