I think this is probably an Imola Limited Edition. It has Z3M seats and the other bits you'd expect to see, red roof etc.

Done 125k. But looks very well cared for and I feel is sensibly priced at £2,895.

I know it's not the biggest deal in the world being a limited edition but I've not see one before and I think it's one of the prettier ones BMW did.

Can anyone confirm it's the Imola Limited Edition?

Not sure why BMW would call this an Imola Limited Edition, Imola in BMW colours is a red. There are a few different blacks but non that reference Imola.

Also the car has red accents including roof. So I suspect it's a reference to that.

There is no doubt this is an individual model with the ///M mirrors and ///M seats but never heard of an Imola Special before, not saying its not but it does not show "Imola" on the vin decoder under the individual section.

Edit: well you live and learn, seems as though there is a second site that I have used for years that has reference to this individual model too.

Actually there was a 2.2 for sale locally to me a few months ago, it was yellow and distinctly brighter than Dakar. It was listed as "imola yellow"

It was really striking., reasonable milage, it had been standing and the roof was a bit green etc. It was very cheap at around £1200 if my memory serves me correctly. I tried to organise a viewing but a London dealer went there just before me and paid cash and trailered it away. It appeared within 2 days on ebay with a £2500 increase in price...wouldn't be so bad if it was a genuine enthusiast who'd bought it. :(

Just to add, looking at the car again it does appear to be a Dakar. The info given was conflicting...oh and it was a £3000 increase in price. Sharks!

Just posted the ad Brian. It actually appears to have been a Dakar... The original photos from Lady who was selling it appeared much brighter and you know what? The cheeky s*ds relisted it using her original pic! They changed it eventually.

I can confirm this is an Imola Special Edition...I know because its my car! As the ad says I'm gutted to be selling but I have bought a project Defender which is now on the road and pressure from her indoors over having 3 cars on the road meant I have taken the decision very regretfully to sell. I would love it to go to an enthusiast form here!

Just on a humorous note I have had the usual ebay scammers contacting me within minutes of the ad appearing. On chap lives in France and bought some paintings as an investment and is willing to swap two of them for the car leaving me with a huge profit when I sell them! Another would love the car but works on the oil rigs so could he just pay by paypal without viewing? I told him that working on oil rigs he would understand if his offer smelled a little fishy!

Hi Steve...your car looks interesting, ideally the mileage would be lower but as always condition/service history trumps mileage.

The fly in the ointment is that I'm down in Hampshire and the car is in Huddersfield....and I'm going to struggle to get to Huddersfield next week.

Are there any BMW specialists nearby who I could commission to inspect the car ?

There, is a specialist dealer in Brighouse, not too far, called De Lacey but I have no idea how much they would charge for an inspection. The garage I have used is called Walkers in Kirkheaton and they know the car well. The owner is a guy called Gordon who has had a number of Z3s, Boxtsters and now has a 911 so he knows sports cars well. He may be able to give you an overview over the phone?

At that price it's worth more in parts, just can't go wrong really!
Looks superb.

OT but not all ebayers are scammers - I bought a 2.2 unseen on eBay and later sold it to a gentleman from France who had just made a UK eBay account that week!
The paintings chaps does sound suspect though...

You could ask and see if there are any local guys on the forum willing to have a look for you.

@Brian H I'm not sure I've ever seen the fact a car was a limited edition (Individual Edition in BMW speak) spelt out in bmw vin? I've always found the problem in identifying them is that they aren't? In fact it becomes quite mixed up with individual option builds which are some thing quite different.

The closest I've found is for a Sport which should show S719 Sports Edition.

Take the example of my little green friend (LD86390). The Fiji Green came as a Fiji Green colour option (I think) and an Individual Edition. Either way nothing in bmw vin with that one to say it's an Individual Edition.

It does say S940 special equipment BMW Individual but you would get that for an individual options car, eg I have a Topaz Blue 2.2 with a blue roof and that makes it individual and gets it the S940 code.

The chassis sticker on the left side inner wing may be more helpful. I know what an individual option build sticker looks like but not if it spells it out as an Individual Edition where appropriate.
