hey all...
ive missed the forum and being busy at work I have not had time to tinker with moneypenny...
till yesterday
all fixed..!
almost..
idle is very smooth..to smooth and she has lost some bottom end torque, I suspect the timing needs retarding by about 6 degrees, but other than that I have a working Z3!.
after what I have been through retarding timing willl be a 30 minute easy job!..
I am going to collate and do a thread on all I learnt, those of you who have followed the saga know I have gone from being a mechanical newbie to replacing an entire coolant system and doing 2 head rebuilds including removing camshafts, followers and valves and rebuilding and re-fitting...as well as a fogged airbox and an (unsuccessful) fan delete mod...I hve also fixed the rocking seats repaired the roof electrics and refurbed the wheels and touched up all of the stonechips..
I am glad to be the owner of a working z3 again...it feels nice.
I have also purchased an alfa romeo GT which I must say is a truly stunning car to drive look at and own..
my drive way has never looked better!
sadly Barry's car is still frustratingly running like the proverbial pig...but we are determined to get to the bottom of it.
on that subject a big thanks once again to barry who has moulded this greenhorn into a fairly decent home mechanic.
its been a blast!
nice to be back in the fold
