You may, just, think to yourself well maybe he couldn't afford a new tyre. Well going on the price of Ice cream ;), you might just think otherwise.

Was that a budget tyre Tony?

Or do you think it's a result of damage?

I've seen this a couple of times recently, one was my brothers car that I took to the mot for him. Apart from a little excess tyre noise it drove ok. Quite scary.

Does not surprise me.
You may not see it without getting under the car.
I found last week when I had the wheels off for wheel sensors that both my rear tyres were worn on the inside. I did not see it with wheels on.
It was too late to get them replaced , but they were good enough not to get an advisory.

This was on a 64 plate A4 Est. Tyre make a "Siamese Slipper" called Constancy, beyond cheap crap on such a car . T****c tyres sell these, do not buy them. I certainly would not.

The owner saw this and probably said: "Plenty of tread left before I get to the steel belt!!!"........................Frankie

My daughters Fiesta front offside inner tyre damage only picked up at last months MOT. Single mum part time worker living on her own. Booked in for service and MOT but service was cut down to oil and filter as she had to have new tyre. Tyre fitter said she’s been running it under inflated after tyre damage hence the ongoing disintegration of the inside, tyre was holding pressure for about a week or so. Never seen this inside a tyre before, tyre done less than 5000mls. Heavy penalty for young mother’s ignorance of cars capabilities. Took time out to show her how to use tyre gauge and inflater. Driven for years so I assumed she knew. I’m an ASS. Yes I did pay half the bill.

Only took photos to show her how mounting kerbs can damage tyres especially if the kerb is sticking up just an inch or two. Thank god for the often slagged off MOT.
Wake up call not just for her, say no more.

All these tyre issues does not surprise me, people regularly drive up kerbs to park because they are too lazy to just slot the car into a space even if there is loads of room. Where I live there is a large green with the houses surrounding it, a few years ago the council shaved a piece off each side to make parking laybys but people stil park up n the kerbs on the footpath outside their house. Perhaps it is all down to laziness, good news for the tyre business though.
