My passenger door electric mirror is not working. Can anyone help? This may have happened during the
rebuild after the respray, but I'm not 100% sure. I had a look this afternoon and took the glass off. This is what I found.

I assumed the piece sticking out with the teeth on it, should have been tucked in so the teeth catch on the wheel inside. After a bit of fiddling I managed to get it in. I assumed this was the solution, but alas no.
The drivers side works perfectly. I moved the switch to select the passenger side adjustment but it didn't work. Every time I tried there was a dull clicking noise coming from the drivers side mirror, even though this is working fine. Any ideas?

Nothing at all on the passenger side Tony. Full movement on the drivers side.

Looks like a bit is broken off that bit with the teeth on. Am guessing there should be something to keep the teeth engaged with the gear otherwise it will just pop out as soon as the motor turns.

If the motor is making a noise when you push the button you have power going to it and I would think that the motor needs to be replaced.

These are easily sourced as they are the same motor as in a E36 3 series. I had to replace mine a couple of months ago.

I've just taken the switch out of the drivers door and tried again. There is a dull clicking inside the drivers door card somewhere when I try to operate the passenger side.

Problem solved. I took the passenger door card off to find the cables hadn't been reconnected after the respray. I should have done this yesterday, but the clicking by the drivers mirror threw me off the scent. A small job, but it gave me satisfaction to sort it myself.
Thanks for the advice guys.
