Help ELM327

I have had a miss in my 2.8 for a while now, its not all the time but now and again the engine will miss and then run fine, so just to check I bought the ELM 327 Wifi diagnostic tool. and use my iPhone 5s to read the data or I try to, I managed to get it connected through Wifi but after that they don't appear to talk together, it tries to connect to the car and a yellow light flashes on the Elm unit but it comes up with unable to connect to system (or something like that) is there a specific App for this? Can anyone recommend an APP for my 1998 2.8. Do I need to make anymore setting changes. Help with this will be gratefully received.

Hi Jim,

The apps I use are Dashcommand and EOBD Facile.

First you need to connect the Elm to the car so that it has power, it will give a power light. Then you need to connect the phone with wireless through the phone settings and wireless setting by selecting elm as the wi fi network, once that is connected, open the app and go into settings and choose connection type as elm, and the on the main screen of the app choose connect, I will do some screen dumps using dash command

In the phone wifi setting picture where I have sky, you should see elm as a network just connect to the elm network, then follow the other pictures
