Hard reverse

So I sent my 2000 Z3 to the mechanics to get a new clutch kit installed. That was on Tuesday. About an hour ago (today, Thursday) I called to see about an update and the mechanic said that the installed it but now are finding it hard (stiff) to put in reverse. He said they were gonna go back into it “to see if the problem is on their side of things” or if it’s the transmission. Am I gonna be told to get a new transmission or did these guys fumble the ball somewhere? Is it the gear box? Pins? What should I be ready for here? Please help

Likely they haven't bled the clutch hydraulic system properly and the clutch isn't "clearing"?. It's quite common to have this problem with a new clutch until it gets bedded in even when it is bled right

So they told me that the clutch kit they ordered was faulty and ordered another one and it worked fine. I picked it up and the clutch feels amazing and shifting is smoother and reverse is good. BUT now when left in gear and the revs start to fall from lack of me giving it gas, I can hear a raspy metal sound from under the car around the middle that wasn’t there before. I wanna say it sounds like something isnt lubricated but don’t want to assume. Any ideas before I call the shop and complain about this new sound?

Sounds like the release fork is catching on the clutch cover or flywheel if this occurs with your foot holding the clutch pedal down? It may be worth getting a 2nd opinion from another mechanic before you take it back.

No, it’ll be after I take my foot off the gas while still in gear that I hear it.
