When I have the roof down on my ZeeThree... I always put the windows down as well, why may you ask? Well I think the look of the car is better with them down, also I did some (unscientific) tests and I did not seem to get blown around any more or less with them up or down. I should add that I don't have one of the wind deflector thingys... So am not sure if that make any difference or not...

So the question is are you a "Half hearted hat off" (roof down, windows up) Zedder or not?

If my wife is in the car, the windows are up, if I'm on my own they're most likely to be down

Windows down - looks better and the swirl is not as much. When the co-pilot is on-board we have the repeated argument until she agrees.

In the cold, windows down for round town and short low speed trips, up for duel carriage way and motorway.
In the summer as it was in the 3 series BMW, down no matter what, so I recon thats what Ill do with the Z3

Unless it is unusually hot I keep them up. This is to keep the noise down when the trucks come past grinding their gears and tire noise from others. Don't care about the hair as I keep it short. My wind barrier stops the annoying blast of air on my left ear at bay.

Yeah we have our windows up too ;)
Unless Alan wants me to look like something that's been dragged through a hedge backwards my hair would be all over the place =))
We're got a wind deflector and it's great couldn't be without it now great little things :)
Alan has the drivers window down when he is by him self ;)

i find it is better with the windows down, i have had a lot of soft tops over the years and this is the first were i find the wind buffeting is far less and no need for a wind stopper as yet, even the wife as not complained yet,

Simples:
  • If it's tee shirt weather the side windows are down - although usually up at higher speeds for long distances ;)
  • If it's 2 fleece weather the side windows are up - that little heater does well, but struggles to be overly effective at minus temperatures.
  • If it's raining (but not hard enough to bother pulling over to put up the tent) the side windows are up, so the rain doesn't get you in the face round the top edge of the windscreen.

Joan hasn't been out in the car with me so don't know her preference but when Trinity and I go it's windows down until it starts to rain then they go up. Same with snow as long as the drifts inside don't impede the pedals. JIM

Like Alan & Shelly, windows up on the move, unless it's over 40 degrees on Euro Hols, but windows done when stationary and taking pics, A lovely shiney Zed doesn't look as good in a pic with the windows up!!!
