We don't really know what tricks dealers get up to Tony. This though is truly a stab in the back for any secondhand Ferrari owner. No one will know if the mileage on there car is correct or not.

Agreed. Maybe I could try it although I'm not sure it would make a huge difference to my 123k Z3 unfortunately.

Am sure in some instances it would be happening. But, on the other hand it helps only on high mileage cars. How many Ferraris are going to be up there clocking high miles that us mere mortals do in our daily sheds.
If there were high milers, then they'd be in every few weeks for a service. Everyone would be meticulously recorded I would have thought. A pretty easy audit trail to follow and something any potential buyer would insist on.

They may well do if they have read this Ian. Odd that they have stopped this happening since this came to light.

Tony.

ps. "High" miles in our sheds may not be comparable with high miles in a Ferrari though.

That's very interesting reading, I remember speaking to a Ferrari buyer years ago who said most of them get clocked.

I always wondered about the cars you saw that were 5/6 years old, several owners, and less than 10,000 miles.

If this get proved somehow won't there be lots of owners going after the dealers for compensation?

Difficult to prove though, I'd imagine the clocks would be altered each year just before a service.
