Fast Fords of the 80s were fast in the day, but are pedestrian by today's standard.

0-60 in 6.5 secs and top speed of 150 was mega in the 80s, but can be achieved in a standard rep-mobile today.

Agreed but today's re-mobile is unlikely to gain iconic status amongst its followers and the wider car enthusiasts market. This car was a beast in it's day and was a real poke in the eye for the established "sports cars". The Cossie is a de-tuned 300bhp monster (In its day), the men in grey suits refused to sanction such power in what was essentially a family car, this is one of the reasons you can chip these cars to 300bhp without doing anything else.

That said, that's some price tag and I agree with a previous post, get it out on the road and enjoy it :)

An RS 500 has been my dream car since they came out. White? And 6,000 miles? That's the best of the best.

Not interested in Ferraris and Aston Martins in comparison.

Maybe you had to be an RS boy in the 1980s to get it ;)

I wasn't an RS not but an XR boy. Had plenty of 2, 3 and a 4i. Mega back then. Could never afford RS stuff. Looks like I can't afford it now either! :racecar:

Oooh, a proper 2.8 XR4i with the bi-plane wing and six-lite body? One of my bestest Ford's of all time less the RS1600i. All passed me by though, to poor at the time but I have my Zed now so all is well :)

I do believe that 3 4x4 RS500's were made, now we're talking if they are at "fully plumbed in" spec. Meep meep!

I had 2 RS2000s but they were both in distressed states. I broke one and sold the other on without doing any work. Big mistake as we're all now aware.

I had an XR3i from new as a company car. Nothing but agro for the first 2 years. Then despite driving it politely the gearbox fell apart before 50k miles.

But my big thing really was the fast Escorts. 1300 and 1600 Sports. I had 3 of them. And 3 other Mk 1/2s as project cars.

The XRs are the last Fast Fords of the period not to be silly money. XR4is look a real bargain and I might, just might be tempted.

Yes mate the 4i not the 4x4i. Brilliant thing. Of all of them tho I loved my MK1 XR2i the best.
