I adore the W113 Tony. Maybe one day, but it would be an addition to Reggie. Thanks for the thread mate.

Your post got me thinking HT, my first BM was an old E pate 316i, absolute heap that I bought from a mate just to help him out, think I kept it for 2 months.

Then a 60 plate 320 tourer, was a manual base spec and just 'ok'. Kept that for a year.

image.jpeg

Then a brand new 1 series in 2012, was a lovely car but just too small. Kept that for 18 months.

image.jpeg

Then the Z3 (still have that )

image.jpeg

And recently the Z4 (gone already)

image.jpeg

Now I need to have a quiet moment to see if I've had more Mercs ?.......

Thought that would get your interest Garry, waiting for @hard top and @Grumpy now and maybe @Lexybhoy too.

Tony.
Only 4 Mercs I think....
C200 coupe, now gone.

A gorgeous E320 Avantgarde, gone but shouldn't be.

I actually forgot another BM....

Had a 530 for a while but the engine was shot in the end really, great car though, took some abuse...

Of course there's been loads of crap cars in amongst all this stuff, but one of my dream cars is up for sale in Edinburgh right now.....

I've had 3 Mercs, the 1987 230ce that I still have, a 1989 300ce that I had to sell when I was made redundant, and a 1993 200 E Class that rotted away.

It broke my heart to sell the 300ce but I thought it would be easier to sell than the 230ce.

I keep looking at 500SL's and I've been tempted by a nice CL500 just like @Lexybhoy

6 Mercs...

190D good car, never had a problem.
190E good car, never had a problem.
230CE fully loaded, my all time favorite.
200C-Class diesel, under powered, same engine that had been used in the 190D.
170A-Class CDI Avantgarde for the wife while I was working abroad, used to eat the spastically mounted rear springs.
220C-Class Avantgarde, to refined for my taste, could not be bothered to find out what all the buttons did so swapped it for the Z.

I love seeing the word "swap" in there. Generates all sorts of conversation :).

I've just came back in from a blast in the CL (as the Z is hibernating) and it sticks to the road very well for such a big 2 wheel driven car. Where have you been all my life !

Haha, yep, but I did literally swap it.
Most of my cars have come from my mates garage/showroom and you can often find me in there for a natter and a coffee.
The C220 came from him, so he new the car and as usual, in there for a natter and a coffee, I spotted the Z.
I new nothing about them so he explained that it was a 1.9 16v M44 Auto with a few extras, hardtop, boot rack and suitcase, tonneau cover, wind deflector, cruise control, sat nav etc (no heated seats) and that the previous owner was a car collector and had owned it from new (Oct 96) and had traded it and a Jag for two Mini Cooper S.
I was still working abroad so did not drive the Merc often and that is probably why I never 'bonded' with it and every time I was in my mates showroom for the next four months or so, I was climbing all over the Z.
Then came the "dear John" moment, so I thought, sod it and drove straight over to may mates, chucked my keys on his desk and demanded the keys to the Z. He said, oh finally, you are going to have a test drive? I said, no, I am taking it.
And that my friend, is how the swap came about. Just keys and documents.

Haven't anything newer than a 91 190e that my kid has that needs some tranny work if anyone if familiar. Won't come out of low gear. A 63 220sb bought from a serviceman after a complete restoration. Needs paint again, a190d 1962 rust bucket but runs nice and has a gas engine now and a 319c bus to tinker with. A 77 300d I swapped a Honda scooter for just taking up space in my shop right now! I think that's it! JIM

Is that a 600 grocer? Only had one Merc, well it was Jues actually. 6 month old C class Avantgarde SE sport pack in Obsidian Black. Bought it in 2004 when I was in the trade. As I've said several times on here I think Mercedes have lost there way. Absolutely love the old stuff, I do like the E class 320cdi like lexys and the 2000's SL's but that's where it ends for me. If money allows in the future I'll buy an older Merc but not at the expense of my Zed.

You don't know the half of it @Grumpy ! This coming summer I'll have my kid brother here from BC at his cabin and I'm finally feeling physically better so we should make real progress. Enjoy your health when you're young because you never know when it's going to slam dunk you and luckily I still have some good days but can't remember the last great day! Most are just better days. A beautiful example I saw in Witney yesterday coming back from my wife police service award. I stood gawping ar it for a while and another chap stopped and commented on what a nice car it was. It did attract quite a bit of admiring looks. Not the best photo but I'm sure @hard top will like it.
