Hi all,

On my 98 Z3 2.8 when I have ignition on p2 and sidelights on, when I press either fog light button, the fog light comes on but as soon as I release the button it goes off

Are the buttons meant to stay down?
Does the engine need to be running for the fog lights to stay on?

Thanks Chris

You need lights (side or main) on for the fog lights to work.

No problem. The switch should stay in and the green light illuminate on the dashboard. Switch might be a bit "sticky" as many are rarely used.

Perfect, the light only illuminates when I hold the button in. Mine doesn’t lock in at all!

Looks like I might replace/ repair mine

thanks
Chris

The fronts are on a 'proper' switch. The rears are on a momentary switch....so push for on and push for off.
If you need a new (double) switch I have one sitting in front of me which is available for postage. It worked perfectly when it was removed.
Part number is (6131) 6 901 957 if you want to check it. It comes with the surround aswell.

Hi Pond,

A new switch would be brilliant, however the part numbers don't seem to match what RealOEM is telling me.

Mine seems to be 61311387054

I didn't know they made different ones!

Do you think yours would still fit my car?

Thanks Chris

It says mine is the newer version and it also says "non-exchangeable retrospectively" on the page, so maybe not?

Hmm I wonder why they changed it, (I guess that explains it not working!)

Thank you for the offer but I don’t think it will fit

Thanks Chris
