Finding Z3 radio code before I cut the power

I have the BMW Business RDS radio cassette player. I'd like to disconnect the battery but I don't have a radio code card. Is there any way to find out what it is? Holding down the M button doesn't seem to produce any settings menu.

I have the same and have owned my Z from new. I hate to say this and someone else on here might know more but I was always lead to believe that the code had to be kept in a safe place because once lost, and needed - like disconnecting the battery - then the 4 digit code was the only way of restarting the unit. It came on a business card size and was unique to each car.

Unless someone else knows differently?

There are sites on the internet where you can get codes these days. I seem to remember @mrscalex may have knowledge on this. You will need the numbers off the unit, serial no.s etc.

When I first got my car, the local main dealer found it for me. (they do have some uses.)

We have never needed a code to get into the radio after replacing batteries on either the Z3 or the Z4. Dont know why

i put my code in after changing the battery and now the radio say (code wait) no matter what i do.
