When I bought my Z3 the subwoofer was blown.
I bypassed it with the new Sony head unit I put in, and was just using speakers behind the seat and tweeters installed in the foot well locations.
I finally broke down and put in an 8" Kicker sub, and an enclosure I found online.
But I really wish I would've just built my own. It would've been much cheaper, and I could've finished it in a day instead of waiting over a week for shipping.
Anyway, here's a vid of the entire process of getting installed.

Nice job, L. I think I am just going to swap out the 6" factory sub, but that's a good alternative you've given Z owners.

Nice work iised a kicker 6.5" sub and re built the box to fit in the stock location as stock.
The sub was 2x 2 ohm so used the H.K Amp the difference is night and day.
Nice work on your install. The H.K system may have been good 20 years ago its not the best but the front speakers and tweeters are quite good it was just the rears and the sub that lacked.
