Any possibility of dropping a gearbox using it?
Not really looked to be honest, the 2 connecting cross bars are roughly in line with the rear of the front wheels and front of the rear wheels to access underneath is pretty good.

On a similar note, has anyone any experience of these tilting type lifts?

I'm looking to drop the rear subframe out this winter and just want a bit more height than axle stands
@gookah has this type. It's brilliant, if you tilt it with the back end in the air there is more than enough room to work. You can have a creeper or stool to sit on under it whilst doing the work with plently of room. There's probably almost 5 foot of clearance under it with it on full tilt.

Yes I have one of those and it is brilliant.

Room to remove an exhaust, subframe and also sills,, looks like plenty of room to also remove a gearbox, but havent tried yet.
Can sit on a stool underneath and work comfortably
