I replaced the pump motor on my 08 Z4 without removing the roof. Now when I open the roof all is good. Roof actuates, goes into the well, led lamp goes out, motor stops. However the roof won't close. Motor runs but roof won't move. If I pick the roof up appox 1/4-1/2" then then try to close it, using the pump it does close. No problem. So now I open the roof, but stop just short of were the roof would stop automatically. But that means I drive around with that light blinking if I have the top down. Is there an adjustment or sensor that can moved to fix this?

Thanks for the reply. It's working now, I just had to cycle the roof multiple times. From all I read the system is self bleeding and that happens quickly. In this case I had to cycle the roof appox. 15 times before it operated correctly. When I put the pump back in, I put it in the original location. I tried to leave it in the trunk but it just annoyed me. I know I had sufficient oil in the reservoir to start, hoping that getting the air out won't run the oil level too low. But for now all is good!

whatever you do DO NOT put it back in the well it called a well because it get full of water & will fail, see the excellent write ups it will go behind the side panel & not bee seen or encroach on boot space.
