Went full monty for console panel replacement… glad it’s over, but M owner console gurus are rare breed. Our consoles are unique to most anything on youtube etc… doing it right full out and back is 6hr job. 3hrs each way … best advice… Label every plug. Example. Top switch and seat heater switch plugs are identical. Console inner black screws are two sizes. The panels are smaller that those holding metal supports. M center console has a keps nut holding back of black storage box. You need a torx with pin hole bit and 11mm wrench to hold the keps. Access through brake handle opening. The console front opening has two screws above radio opening and there are two posts for alignment that over years are seated to dash holes. Raising back over brake handle (pulled fully up). and shifter in second gear… then gently rock side to side… it will release without breaking posts. Picture for credentials.

Yes…. The shifter console in the Ms are really weak where row of switches sits. Two reasons… the panel is not well supported across top and flexes, and switches are pressfit into holes with very narrow column between them.
I got new panel from fella printing them in Israel. Sanded prepped, painted and coated in acrylic.

took three months in all … but no rush.
