So I upgraded the head unit to a Pioneer MVH-X580DAB a few months back and now need to upgrade the OEM speakers.

Head unit is 50w x 4 by my guess is that's peak power as opposed to sustained. What would be the easiest (no cutting) and relatively cheapest all speaker kit to get my music sounding considerably better?

Lastly, I know nothing about car audio, so please feel free to respond in the way you might do to a 5 year old.

Vibe speakers are brilliant and pretty cheap, I think I paid about £30 for the fronts, can't remember too much detail on them though as I went to an audio place and took their advice

I replaced the kick panel speakers with a good quality pair of 6.5 inch speakers, replaced the tweeters with a good set as well.
I have a kicker sub-woofer in the storage area above and behind the seats and am using the stock HK amplifier. I also disconnected the rear speakers that are behind the seats, preferring to get staging from the front set of speakers.
I have larger amplifiers ready I just have been to lazy to get to that.

Did 6.5s go straight in as 5.5 is standard

I have Vibe slick components in mine, 5.5 in the front plus tweeters on the dash and 4 inch in the rear (need to cut trim for these). Along with a Blaupunkt slim sub behind the seat and I'm very happy with the sound.

Yes mine where Vibe slick, I will be fitting them in the 2.8 but this time I will be installing sub and Amp, watch this space for lots of questions regarding the sub and amp

I originally had a sub and amp in the boot and the sound was crap, not gone down the route of sub and amp in the cabin due to the room. I like what some have done putting one in between the hoops but it was a lot of work. The slim combined sub and amp was very easy to install and sounds great.

So if my headunit it rated at 50w x 4 peak power, then what would be my all important RMS rating?
And which speaker rating should I be looking for to get the best out of the headunit power?
