cleaning the rocker cover, any ideas?

Hello All,

Had to take the Zed for its MOT today, thankfully it sailed through without any issues, even if it did mean having to take it out in the rain for the first time!!

When I was giving it a once over before going for the MOT, I noticed that there is some oxidization on the fluting on "BMW Mpower" bit of the rocker cover, its nothing bad but it is enough to annoy me, and no I don't have detailers OCD!





Anyway, any idea what i should clean this with? I did think about some very fine wet and dry, but don't want to go in to heavy and knacker the thing.

I think some 800 wet & dry will be best, if you use something like autosol you could get a mirror finish on the bare aluminium but it will need a little elbow grease and depend on whether you want that finish or a matt/satin finish that the wet & dry will give you.

I will be embarking on a full refurb on my rocker cover in the near future with a something a little different so watch out for a writeup in the not too distant future.

I think I'll give it a quick going over with wet and dry, I can then always go over it again with Autosol if it looks to rough.

i suppose i was sort of lucky
when the car got attacked by mice/rats
and they peed over the rocker covers the insurance
replaced both of them

Renaud, If you use 800 wet & dry Put thin oil on it, you will find it cuts faster, doesn't clog up quickly and leaves a smoother finish, ready for polish. Stick the wet & dry to flat wooden block before you use it, so that it doesn't round off the edges :-bd
