My hood has seen better days.... But wooed by the excellent promo video for Renovo I bought the 3 items in the renewal kit.
I scrubbed and scrubbed but couldn't get out the really persistent marks on the fabric hood. The previous owner left the car under trees and maybe this is the main problem. I suggest use caution before rushing ahead to get the renewal kit if your hood is heavily marked.
The black stain worked very well where there were no residual marks.
I've just waterproofed as the final stage and have my fingers crossed it will now keep the inside dry.
Does anybody know if Autoglym is better at removing deep ingrained stains than Renovo???

I'm not sure Autoglym would get ingrained marks out any better if they are that bad. I know @PeterJ is having issues with stubborn marks on his new tan hood, and is looking in to getting it steam cleaned instead.

Wonder if Chris from @Summit Detailing could suggest something? :detailing:

yes, found Autoglym had virtually no effect. I am hoping to get it steam cleaned in the next few days so will let you know the result

The Renovo products are a lot more effective than the AG kit, both in terms of cleaning & protection.
You are on the right track with the steam, this is the route I'd go down if my normal cleaning process failed to yield adequate results.
Let us know how you get on.

cheers

the steam clean removed about 50% of the muck. The Autoglym removed about 5% ...but it is from air pollution in South China so I dread to think what it may contain!

I tried using Autoglym at first, but it made little difference. My blue hood had lots of stains and green Algae, got the Renovo and it cleaned some off on the first clean, did it again and got nearly all off. The big improvement came with the blue stain, it took 3 applications and then the seal coat but it looks great just like new - very pleased. It's been 14 months since I did it and it still looks good - none of the old stains has shown through.

Hi Chris, that's what Sean did on my car and judging from the pics he took the steam cleaning did a great job of removing whatever he couldn't get out with the cleaner. JIM
