What's your favourite classic @t-tony? Mines is a 60's Mercedes SL. Nothing comes close for me. I would sooooo love to own one.

the 60's gives you a choice of four different SL models I believe Dave. The 190sl (which I have) 230sl, 250sl, and the 280sl. That is the line up available in NA but Europe and GB may have been different. I need to get off my butt and get working on mine if I want to see it finished before I leave. JIM

Yep your quite right Jim. The 280SL sorry.

Saw a few of my favourites today one being Austin Healey 3000, or perhaps a proper Cobra

For me the last picture is a favourite, not in gold but classic white. I was a Simon Templar fan.

Tony.

Just had a look at the "How many left" website and got a bit of a shock to read that there are less than 550 Mercedes 230ce left in the UK in either their prefacelift or facelift forms.

I think I'll be hanging onto mine.

Loads of cars that have classic status now are getting pretty scarce when you consider how many there were even 10years ago

Very true mate, most cars are build with a life expectancy of about 10 years or thereabouts, in the 14 years I've worked where I am every now and again you go " Haven't seen one of them in a long time" and it makes you realise cars are disappearing all the time.
I tested a 1984 280SL last week for the 14th time now, and it is starting to show its age. It has 91,000 on it this year, so not too bad for 32 years old?

Tony.
That's a nice looking car Tony. I very nearly bought a 450SL from a guy in Cardiff when our boy was there at uni, but it needed too much work for the amount of money he wanted for it.

My ce has got 134000 miles on her now but drives lovely. The interior is more or less mint but she's got a few body scars now.

Good choice Dave! I preferred the 190sl because of the body lines as they went pretty box shaped in 63 and after the 280sl started getting bigger and wasn't impressed with the design. JIM

There's currently around 3000 on the road and another 6000 on sorn, so if you fancy another one you should be able to find a decent one

Good memories though.

Omg! Had one the same colour in a 2.1 pinto engine imported from Germany. It also had the ridiculously large and utterly crap Audioline box speakers on the back shelf! Now that my friends is classic! =)) Did have two 3.0 Essex aswell. An S and a Ghia.

Anytime now there'll be a 350SL come in for it's test as they always appear about the same time. This one belongs to the brother of our old landlord at our local pub. This one only does test station and back each year. Waste of a car really, same colours as this one too but not quite as nice. Except for the V8 noise, that is.!
